20 AVRIL Jardin Acoustic Sessions #7 | Hills Of Belgium
Hills of Belgium – “Mountain music from the flat country”
Hills of Belgium is a fiddle & banjo duo that revisits songs and melodies from the sources of American music.
Welcome to 1905, in the Belgian Appalachians!
Long before Country and Bluegrass reused it, the music of small farming or mining communities had been making people dance and dream for several centuries in the South-East of the United States.
Those tunes took over the radio waves in the early 20th century and were first known by the name of Hillbilly Music, and then “Old-Time” music; yet there is nothing “old” about this music.
Though it is rooted deeply in the past, each generation brings it up to date, making it a modern and constantly evolving repertoire.
